The Road to CALVARY - Part 2

Scripture: John 12:20–26
20 Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks.
21 So these came to Philip, who was from Beth-sa′ida in Galilee, and said to him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”
22 Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew went with Philip and they told Jesus.
23 And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of man to be glorified.
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
25 He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
26 If any one serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there shall my servant be also; if any one serves me, the Father will honor him.

Some Greek leaders have come to see and speak to Jesus. Jesus speaks to them the truth about Himself. John 12:23 And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of man to be glorified.
And this will happen by the grain of wheat falling into the ground and dying. Jesus is speaking of Himself; He was going to be the grain of wheat that falls to the ground and dies.
John 12:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone;
The grain of wheat must die. For when it dies it bears much fruit.
When we love our life in this world, we will lose it. Therefore, we must die to the glory of the world that we may keep it to eternal life. Jesus calls us to follow Him on the road to Calvary, leading to death (meaning--to die to our selfish ways).
If we follow Jesus to Calvary, we will be with Him in glory.
A grain of wheat by itself is just one seed. But when planted in the ground this seed dies to itself and becomes something even greater. Jesus says His time to be glorified is approaching.
Jesus is brutally tortured, and His Body completely bruised, His soul knew the full anger of God against sin.
Jesus' suffering and dying for all on the Cross is in accordance with His Fathers Will. And only through His sacrificial death there will come an abundance of fruit.
Jesus in obedience, accomplishes His Father's will.

Jesus died and was buried.
Only through His death Salvation was achieved.
Only in His shedding of Blood,
Only in His Sacrifice – His death on the Cross, we are the Redeemed.
And on the Third day Jesus rose from the dead – giving us the promise of eternal life.

To be a servant or have a heart of a servant:-
  • To walk humble before God.
  • To be ready to act as God directs, in His time and always seeking His Will.
  • To Consider everybody to be better than myself.
  • To be great, we must be the least.
  • To be helpful, to be kind to people, always remembering everybody hurts.
  • To remember that it is not about money or reward.
  • Love for God begins with loving others.
  • Love everybody with no bias. Remember: God made us all in His Image and Likeness.
Matthew 7:14, “The gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
It’s hard to die to self.
It’s hard to hate your life in this world.
It’s hard to follow Jesus on the road that leads to the Cross.
It’s hard to take the role of a servant in a world of power.
But when we do, it is to the greater Glory of God!
And when we do, We bear much fruitwe keep our lives to eternal life; we join Jesus where He is in glory; the Father honors us-John 12:26

REMEMBER: God is in control!
And it is only by dying to our self we will experience new life.
In His dying, Jesus loved us. His ways are ways of love, and His thoughts are thoughts of mercy.
