The September PROMISES! Part1

For 33 years Christ set aside His glory which He had before the world was created and lived in obedience and in utter dependence upon God.

Joseph and Mary looked everywhere for Jesus and found Him 3 days later. 
And when they saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously.” And he said to them, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” And they did not understand the saying which he spoke to them. And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man. Luke 2:48-52
The Gospel of Luke tells us that after having been found in the Temple, Jesus (at the age of 12) went down to Nazareth with His father and mother and He remained with them in obedience
How God operates - is always going to be beyond our understanding. 
As for Mary, within her Heart, she would continue to ponder on these thoughts. It was Mary's loss of Jesus - a loss of 3 days. And now at the Crucifixion of Jesus, Mary standing by her Son, how could we ever possibly understand the Heart of Mary - the depth of pain on seeing her Son? 
It is the loss of Jesus at 12-3 days
it is the loss in the Crucifixion-3 days. (33 years of Jesus life.)
But there is a JOY in the finding, a JOY in the RESURRECTION! 
The more Mary pondered; the more Mary was in the grace of the Spirit of God.

Jesus words, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” Luke 2:49 
The Temple is the House of God. Jesus identifies God as His Father. Jesus suggests the Temple is the only place they should have expected Him to be in.
(A point for Mary to ponder on-Jesus knew His Mother would.)
Joseph and Mary found Jesus 3 days later in the temple
Jesus would RISE on the third day after The Crucifixion
And Mary would find Jesus in the Resurrection - as she found Him in the Temple (Jesus always and about doing His Fathers Will). 

There is a double reason to the Loss-Finding of Jesus in the Temple. 
Jesus identifies God as His Father.
Jesus encourages Mary, His mother, in revealing to her the Glory of the 3 days later. The Glory of His Resurrection!

For everything there is a time of waiting. There is never a short cut. All i wish is for you to understand that a great miracle, also takes the best of time. God has His time set for everything and every purpose under Heaven! Trust in God, trust in His Time. 
  • We simply begin, An Angel of the Lord appeared to the Shepherds, announcing the birth of Jesus. (Emphasis on the appointed time of Birth.) We must be like the Shepherds, Open to receive a message with great Joy and Trust.
  • Behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy; and going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:1, 10-11 The Wise Men came with great Joy seeking Jesus and they came offering gifts-their true gifts were each of their thirst to come to be with the Lord and the homage they rendered to the Lord. How do we come to the Lord, do we come seeking Him. And what do we bring before Him. The Wise Men looked for the Lord, they travelled miles to meet with Him, having a map-route and a Star as a guide. We have our Lord waiting for us and we keep Him waiting still. The Lord, has set His Time eternally to be with us, how do we respond? 
  • Prophet Simeon in Luke 2 - It was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord Jesus Christ. His words: “Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word; for mine eyes have seen thy salvation which thou hast prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to thy people Israel.”

The September PROMISES! Part2 - The YEARS


Now as we come to this chapter in the life of Jesus, we hear of Jesus at the age of 30, as He begins His Galilean ministry.

That leaves us with a span of 18 unaccounted years of Christ's life. Where Jesus was and what did He do? These are questions we would love to have it been answered, and so we think? But this, we know with certainty that Jesus waited for His appointed time. And in so doing, He did what was His Fathers Will.

In a fast-paced world, we can’t think of giving away our time or life to someone or anyone. The question, we so selfishly and often ask is, ‘What about me?’
As God in human flesh, Jesus prioritized and chose to give His first moments to seeking His Father. Shouldn’t we all follow our Master? (Everybody at some point has their own work schedules, but what about when you get the time off-could you make time for God?)
Keep God first place!
Jesus would find a desolate place, to be one with His Father-He would withdraw to pray.
Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man.
For 18 years, Jesus was locked in with His Father. 
And God has an appointed time for everything. 
And everything comes together according to the Holy Will of God.
Not one minute before and not a second late than the God appointed time.

It was a mission and there were people who would accompany Jesus on this mission. There was an appointed time for Jesus to come-across each person or people's path. Had Jesus started even a day early then the scheduled time for Jesus, He would miss those who were meant to be on that journey with Him.
Often we hurry in our lives. But God is all knowing. That is what the 18 years of waiting was all about. It was waiting for all the people to be on the scene at the God appointed time for each person to be. It was a call to all.

Those who had to be healed: I will make a mention here of:
  • John 5-One man was there, who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew that he had been lying there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” (Jesus, Himself comes to the man. A Miracle is bound to happen, this man waited for 38 years. He had faith. God personally came to him)
  • Matthew 8-and behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. (It is so obvious that this man needs healing but look at the words he speaks...if you will, you can make me clean- Jesus, in His Heart definitely waited for this man)
  • Matthew 8-As he entered Caper′na-um, a centurion came forward to him, beseeching him and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, in terrible distress.” And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion answered him, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed.(Similar words we pray at the celebration of the mass). For I am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard him, he marveled, and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faithAnd to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; be it done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment. (Jesus marvels at his faith)

We have the Feeding of the Five Thousand People.
We have the Feeding of the Four Thousand People.
Each person present was called to be there, at the appointed time.
  • Jesus heals the Gerasene Demoniac. Jesus travels to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasene' to heal the man with an unclean spirit. Jesus travelled all the way to free this man from Legion. Mark 5 - “Go home to your friends, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”
  • A girl restored to life and a woman healed. Jesus crossed again in the boat to the other side. Jesus meets Jairus whose daughter is on deathbed. Jairus asks Jesus to come heal his daughter. Jesus walks along with Jairus to his home and on the way Jesus comes across this woman who suffers haemorrhage for 12 years. A CALL to be Saints: We have The Apostles, and we have Mary Magdalene also we have St. Veronica who wiped the face of Jesus, we have St. Simon of Cyrene who carried the Cross of Jesus. 
If Jesus hurried, if Jesus did not wait on His Father, so many people would have missed on being there at the right time. And speaking about that good thief on the right side of Jesus, who asked Jesus to remember him when Jesus comes to His kingdom. How could Jesus leave him out? 
The beauty of Jesus, He chooses to leave no one out. That is the wait. For every factor, for every person and in keeping the most important of all, God's Time
In His wait, Jesus was obedient and humble. In the real sense, why would God have to wait on any person to come on the scene. But God did not hurry anyone and neither did Jesus ever expect that. 
Jesus waited on His Father. 
And so should we, but we fail miserably.

The September PROMISES! Part3 - JESUS in control!

Jesus walked obediently and willingly to a death on the Cross.
Jesus words to Peter after Peter cut off the ear of Malchus, the high priest’s slave? Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into its sheath; shall I not drink the cup which the Father has given me?” John 18:11
Jesus shows us what it means to obey God. When we follow God’s Will, God's grace and His mercy will take care of everything else.
Jesus in total obedience, did His Father’s Will. And so should we.

Conclusion: -
Jesus says, He has the authority to lay down His own life, and that He has the authority to take it up again. His life will not be taken from Him, but that He will give it up voluntarily.
In the Gospel of John - John makes it clear that Jesus is the One Who is in control. John 18:8 Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he; so, if you seek me, let these men go.” Jesus confronts those who seek to arrest Him. Jesus makes no effort to save Himself, while He saves His disciples. Jesus had complete control. 
Jesus says, “Put your sword back into its place; for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.
Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then should the scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?” Matthew 26:52-54
OBEDIENCE to The Father's Will.
Everything comes about according to GOD’s Perfect PLAN!

We have to Trust God and God's perfect timing in and for our life. 

Remember-REMEMBER!
Not a minute before and not one second late than the God appointed TIME!
TRUST God’s Time – all the time!
When we truly understand, that in in His suffering-His Crucifixion-in His Death, Jesus Christ was in complete control-then nothing in the world will ever trouble us. 
God - is in Control!

P.S.: This article completion date-the 29th of September 2023. 
I had written this topic based on the Promises. And i know with a certainty that 1820 is Fr. Reuben Tellis. That is 100% confirmed. 
When writing Unforgettable Memories, I had not understood the importance of the day, itself. Though i absolutely love the Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, i did not give the accreditation to the Archangels. 
As i see the date for Unforgettable Memories September 29, 2012 (on 261023) i come to remember the date of the 104-year-old man, which mass i had been on the 16th of October 2023. That is the reason the Spirit of God brought me to the Church. It is not only to know that it is the day of the Archangels but also most importantly to know that Fr. Reuben celebrated the mass on that day and in the years 2019, 2020 and 2021. 
I do not have any other dates relating to the years 2016, 2017 and 2018.  
But to what i have in hand, words or acknowledgement will never be enough. To my most Wonderful God, To my most Wonderful Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael - How Amazing are the ways of God!

Nothing is impossible that cannot be made POSSIBLE by GOD!
It is five loaves and two fish, very small when offered to feed thousands, but when placed in the hands of Jesus, they became Provisions of God's Grace and Mercy.

Remember: Jesus is ALWAYS in CONTROL!
Remember-Remember: When God makes a Promise, He keeps it. And when you fall short to understand, He will lead you the other way round.

The Archangels - 29 September!


I did not realize the 29th of September as the day of The Archangels. 
In my article UNFORGETTABLE Memories. . .Saturday, September 29 2012, i have failed to mention this. Apart from that, i failed to focus on the date itself. I have now learnt that i need to constantly ask God for His Opinion, His Thoughts in everything i do, no matter how small it seems. Sometimes the smallest detail makes a world of difference. I have and i am learning still...
In my mind it was always the 24th of October. If God did not pull me to the Church, on the 16th of October 2023, then this would just have skipped. 
Prior to this i had written - The 181920 September PROMISES! - which a few days later on reading i felt something similar with the dates and i realized, it was-the date of posting the article. That is what God was telling me and that is what the Archangels were leading me to. 
Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael! Sorry!
And NOW i KNOW...!

Fr. Reuben Tellis - MASS | TUESDAY | 29TH SEPTEMBER - 2020
The Catholic Catechism of the Catholic Church mentions the number 336. About the presence of the Angels and Archangels and the reference speaks about from infancy to death human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. And it is also mentioned that besides every believer stands an Angel as a protector and a shepherd leading them to life. So already here on Earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of the Angels and humans united by God.
The Feast of the Archangels teaches us that there are beings, who are not human but who love us deeply because they love God. And specifically, we find the mention of these 3 Archangels in the feast of today. Archangel Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, and there is special meaning in their names.
While Michael comes to us as a warrior, as a fighter against Satan. We must remember that he is the Archangel who defends us when we are battling against evil. In other words when we invoke him we know that we are protected against the evil one, because of the powers of this Archangel.
Gabriel is known as the messenger, the messenger of news. We know that Gabriel came to Mary and announced the beautiful promise that the fulfillment of the promise that God had made of a Messiah. And Mary listening to the words of Archangel Gabriel was able to give her assent to this invitation. And we also know that at the end of life he will announce the Lords coming. So that all those who listen to this call will be able to renew their lives and be prepared for the call.
The Archangel Raphael is known to be a shepherd or a healer. In other words, while we journey through life in this journey, he shepherds us, and he also brings healing.
It is very difficult to explain the very nature of Angels and Archangels. But one thing is evident that they are present in this world. And we must be grateful to God. Grateful because the presence of the Archangels reminds each and every one of us that God loves us, that God wants to protect us and heal us. And constantly wants His message to be heard by us. And the Archangels play their different roles so we too while praying will always be protected kept safe from evil that we will listen to God’s word and experience that healing because of God’s love through the Archangels. Amen.

May the Angels go with you….

Fr. Reuben Tellis - MASS | WEDNESDAY | 29TH SEPTEMBER - 2021
In our secular world today probably the whole concept of Angels and Archangels does not really hold ground. But we Catholics have strong faith in the Bible as the Word of God. And while we go through the Bible, we find so many references to the angels and Archangels. And today specifically as we celebrate this feast of the saints, the Archangels Gabriel, Michael and Raphael. We realize that the three of them have a special ministry in Gods kingdom.
Now we know that Michael was the one who fought the war against Satan and therefore Michael is one who helps us fight against evil.
We have Gabriel, who gave Mary the message of God that she was chosen to be the mother of His Son. So therefore, Gabriel is the messenger, he carries the Word of God.
And Raphael as we know from the Book of Tobit, was a healer. And therefore Raphael, whose very word means, God heals. Raphael is the healer.
And all three of them have specific ministries along with the Archangels and the other Angels. It is such a powerful multitude of Angels and Archangels. We give praise and thanks to God. And it is for us believing in the power of the Archangels and Angels to pray to them, because they are also our intercessors, and we feel protected, we feel healed. And our ears are always open to listen to the Word of God.
During our Eucharist today, as we thank God, for these heroes of the kingdom let us pray that in so many ways we too in our own lives will reflect the virtues of the Angels as messengers of God, as healers and as those who fight against evil in His kingdom. Amen.

Let us pray: God our loving Father, we thank You, and we praise You, for all the blessings You showered on us. And in a special way we thank You for the gift of our Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. And we praise You for their ministries in Your kingdom. We ask You Lord that we may draw strength from the knowledge of their ministries, that we may always be open to Your word. That we may always bring healing in the lives of others and that we may always fight temptation and the war against evil. Bless us Lord with our angels that we may always discover their presence in our lives, we make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Watch - Mark 13:33

Mark 13:33-37
33 Take heed, watch; for you do not know when the time will come.
34 It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch.
35 Watch therefore—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning—
36 lest he come suddenly and find you asleep.
37 And what I say to you I say to all: Watch.”

The command, “Watch,” is listed four times in verses 33 to 37–at the beginning, middle and end. Watch! Stay alert! Jesus wants us to stay awake.

Did you observe that the phrase, "for you do not know when" occurs twice? Then verse 33 adds, "the time will come." And verse 35, "the master of the house will come." The point is–be on the watch. For Jesus comes!


#1 Commands and Reasons - Verse 33
First-The COMMANDS to be awake for His return.
V 33 begins with Take heed, watch. It means take care, watch out, be aware.
God commands us to stay watchful. We need to live a life that honours Christ. We are to live each day as if Jesus returns today.
Second-The REASONS for His Commands.
  • While we don’t know when Jesus will return, we do know that He’s coming again. The exact day and hour will remain unknown. Jesus is concerned with the way we live and the way we wait.
  • As we wait Jesus calls us, to faithfulness and steadfastness. We must live in a way that acknowledges His soon return.
So how do we prepare for His coming?

#2 A short Parable. - Verse 34
Jesus gives instructions for jobs to be done while He is gone. As a faithful servant of our Master, we are to fulfill our tasks, do our job.
Like a doorkeeper, we are called to be always on the alert, we must be watchful and wait expectantly for the Master’s return. Watch

#3 To look expectantly for Jesus' return. - Verses 35-36
Remain faithful-committed until Christ comes to get you. We do not know, the day-the hour or minute, when Christ is returning. It could be today. Watch therefore—for you do not know when the master of the house will come. It could be–in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning. The Lord is saying: I am coming at any time; hence we need to be prepared.
Matthew 25:1-13 "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten maidens who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them; but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, `Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.' Then all those maidens rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, `Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise replied, `Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you; go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.' And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut. Afterward the other maidens came also, saying, `Lord, lord, open to us.' But he replied, `Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.' Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.
His coming cannot be predicted. Christ warns all of us–He’ll come suddenly. No one will know exactly when. The word “suddenly” means quickly, without warning, and unexpectedly.
The parable Jesus shares encourages us to wakefulness with the reminder that the Master is returning and we should desire to be found faithful.

Be Alert and awake.
In today’s Gospel there is a parable told of a wedding. 
Now while reading this Parable we realize that there are certain eschatological overtones, in other words this is talking to us about the end times….
And the focus of today’s Gospel is a reminder to all of us to be alert and awake.
Now one thing is very clear The Lord while giving us this beautiful parable, of the wedding feast is trying to tell us that at the end time, when we meet our Lord, it is going to be an occasion of joy like a wedding is. And for that we have got to be ready and so in telling us about these 5 wise and 5 foolish bridesmaids, He gives us an opportunity to think about, what is our preparation for this end time. And remember, that when the Lord comes is not known, when we are going to face our maker is not known, but we must be ready and prepared and as we as little children always love to sing that hymn, Give me oil in my lamp keep me burning. This oil that we are talking about, that the Lord is speaking about is the oil of Joy that comes from worshipping the Lord, believing in Him, doing good deeds in His name, serving people, making a difference in the world.

In other words, our preparation for the end, is a joyful preparation because we can invest in this lamp that is our lives, all the possible oil that we can fill into the oil of love, the oil of peace, the oil of joy, the oil of good works. Because as we hear the lord telling us, the door will be opened to us, when we celebrate life in His name. 
And for this what is important is Wisdom, how to fill those lamps, with the oil that will burn throughout, burn with love for the lord, burn with love for one another. And wisdom was a quality that we remember in Solomon also prayed for. And wisdom is very important because it helps us discern what is right and wrong, it helps us discern what is the best that we can do in our lives as Christians, and there are so many opportunities, given to us. 
St. Paul is telling the people of Thessalonica today, that we must live life even we have lost our loved ones, and we must always remember that the loved ones are with God. God is the one who sent them into this world, God is the one who takes them back. 
And it is this God for whom our soul is thirsting. And the thirst that we have, once again fills the lamp of our lives with this oil. And this thirsting comes therefore, from our prayer, it comes from our reading of the Word, it comes from knowing God, through our various actions and good deeds. In our families today, there are numerous opportunities, for us to fill the lamp of our lives with that oil. 
Given the times of covid, we know that families have been together, doing a lot of good things together, I also heard that people possibly have been getting on one another’s nerves. But that is obvious, because we are human, and we are weak. But we must remember that every family member is blessing to us, we are blessings to them. And the more and more we fill the lamp of our lives, with this Joy, the service that we render to each other the love that we show, the forgiveness, we are preparing ourselves, so beautifully to meet the Lord. Whether it is in the community, whether it is in the Parish, even if we are in this online participation of the Eucharist, the prayers that we make for each other are prayers that permeate every corner of the Earth, and this is something that we must remember that the joy that comes from praying for each other is a joy that fills the world. It also fills the lamps of our lives.

And this is what the lord is telling us in the Gospel today, fill your lamps, let them be burning, burning with love, burning with Joy, so that when it comes to meeting The Lord, we won’t have to look for that oil, the oil is there, we don’t have to waste time running for that oil elsewhere, the oil is there. We don’t waste time because if we do, we will never be recognized as Gods loved disciples because we have been foolish, foolish not to use the opportunities that He has given us. This is a parable that reminds you and me that God continues to love us. But we at the same time, must be ready to accept that love and to fill the lamps of our lives with the oil of love. Amen.

Christ must not return, to find us asleep!

Jesus Prays in Gethsemane – Mark 14. The disciples are reprimanded for their failure to watch. Despite being urged to watch and pray, the disciples fall asleep.
32 And they went to a place which was called Gethsem′ane; and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I pray.”
33 And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled.
34 And he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch.”
35 And going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
36 And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee; remove this cup from me; yet not what I will, but what thou wilt.”
37 And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour?
38 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
39 And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words.
40 And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they did not know what to answer him.
41 And he came the third time, and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough; the hour has come; the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
42 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.”
Could you not watch one hour? Jesus pours out His heart here to Peter, asking to be on the watch. But when Christ needs them most, He asks them to Watch and pray? Each of them repeatedly fall asleep in the garden.


#4 Jesus says to all - “Watch.” How do we do that? - Verse 37
  • We live lives of love, of compassion and always forgiving. We live a life of prayer-a life of good deeds. We live a life devoted to Christ and His teachings.
  • Jesus wants to come closer to each one of us. When we are alert and watchful, we will be responsive to the ever so gentle knock of Jesus on the door.
  • Always on the watch for we know not the Hour or the minute. In JOY, we wait for our Lord always seeking God in all things.
Christ repeatedly asks us to watch for His coming. 
His command - to live each day ready for His return.
Time is NOW! Each day our prayer must be, “Come Lord Jesus, COME”!
Be Alert! Be on the Watch!

God controls ALL.

In today’s Gospel there is a parable told of a wedding. 
Now while reading this Parable we realize that there are certain eschatological overtones, in other words this is talking to us about the end times….
And the focus of today’s Gospel is a reminder to all of us to be alert and awake.
Now one thing is very clear The Lord while giving us this beautiful parable, of the wedding feast is trying to tell us that at the end time, when we meet our Lord, it is going to be an occasion of joy like a wedding is. And for that we have got to be ready and so in telling us about these 5 wise and 5 foolish bridesmaids, He gives us an opportunity to think about, what is our preparation for this end time.
