As of today, there are The 37 Doctors of The Church, 4 women and 33 men.
The women to be named as Doctors of the Church: 
  • St. Teresa of Avila (called Saint Teresa of Jesusand St. Catherine of Siena in 1970 by Pope Paul VI
  • Followed with: St. Thérèse of Lisieux (known as the Little Flower of Jesus, or simply the Little Flower.) by Pope John Paul II. And St. Hildegard of Bingen by Pope Benedict XVI.
  • Pope Francis declared St. Irenaeus of Lyon the 37th Doctor of the Church on 21 January 2022, with the title "Doctor of Unity".
