Metanoia

To go through a change of any kind can be tiring, frustrating and mind boggling. When we look to a change by ourselves, we seldom will be able to make sense of it. Given the grace of God anything is possible. I am learning, this is as much as I could understand with the grace of God.

Thank You God and Thank God for Fr. Ashlyn.

Mark 1:15 “and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel.”

The object of changing one's mind is unto the Gospel itself. We are saved by placing our trust in Jesus Christ!
Mark 1:15, “repent and Believe in the Gospel.” Whatever it is that has been hindering a sinner from believing the Gospel, the Scripture commands us to think differently toward God. The Gospel is what the change of mind is about. When a man changes his mind at the preaching of the Gospel, he has experienced metanoia. Repent! (metanoia) and believe in the gospel!

The Gospel is the good news for sinners, that as sinners, we are "justified freely by His grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" Romans 3:24 through nothing but faith alone. "To the one who does not work, but believes upon Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted unto righteousness." Romans 4:5.

"Whosoever will, let him take freely of the waters of life." Revelation 22:17

"'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' And they said to him, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved." Acts 16:30-31

"The Lord is not slow about his promise as some count slowness, but is forbearing toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." 2 Peter 3:9.

"Unless you do penance, you shall all likewise perish." It involves true repentance of sin and the subsequent turning toward the Lord. There is a complete change in one's life, a change of heart from sin to the practice of the virtues, and the zealous demonstration of that faith through baptism, confession, and a worthy penance.

God calls all of us to eat freely of the bread of life, the broken Body and the Blood of His Son. This is a meal He has set for all. Metanoia!

Metanoia means “to change one’s mind, repent, be converted”. It is a resolve to follow only Jesus. The change in mentality means striving to assimilate the values of the Gospel, which contradict with the dominant tendencies of the world.

It is most important to renew constantly our encounter with the living Christ, as it is Jesus who leads us to continuing conversion.

The person hears but one voice-the voice of his or her Beloved; and that is not the voice of the majority or a political party or of celebrities. It does not result in us turning into reeds shaken by the wind.

Metanoia makes us also firm in faith. The fidelity to the Lord gives us the courage to make the break, a break from all false standards and ideals, so as to gain true freedom, a freedom the world does not offer. This courage to make the break is called, metanoia.

It speaks of great willingness to change. It is at the same time a process of becoming firm in Christ. Metanoia "makes Christians," Pope Benedict XVI says. St. Paul in his letter to the Galatians 2:20: "I no longer live I, but Christ lives in me."
