My People,
Good Morning! Christmas is a season of Hope and Love. This is what we celebrate at Christmas – that God shared
Jesus Christ with us; that He came to serve and sacrificed His life that we might
know the love and forgiveness of God and receive eternal life.
Christmas is my favorite season. I believe in everything about the season and I love the whole concept of Santa-claus, reindeers, elves and the North-Pole. As a kid, this is what I looked to - this was the beginning of my lessons on HOPE!
Merry Christmas!
“And blessed is she who believed
that there would be a fulfilment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” Luke
1:45
I love listening to
Country. There is always meaning and a lot of love in their music.
Country is all heart. I love listening to Randy Travis. This is Three Wooden
Crosses.
A farmer and a teacher, a hooker and a preacher,
Ridin' on a midnight bus bound for Mexico.
One's headed for vacation, one for higher education,
An' two of them were searchin' for lost souls.
That driver never ever saw the stop sign.
An' eighteen wheelers can't stop on a dime.
There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway,
Why there's not four of them, Heaven only knows.
I guess it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you,
It's what you leave behind you when you go.
That farmer left a harvest, a home and eighty acres,
The faith an' love for growin' things in his young son's heart.
An' that teacher left her wisdom in the minds of lots of children:
Did her best to give 'em all a better start.
An' that preacher whispered: "Can't you see the Promised Land?"
As he laid his blood-stained bible in that hooker's hand.
There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway,
Why there's not four of them, Heaven only knows.
I guess it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you,
It's what you leave behind you when you go.
That's the story that our preacher told last Sunday.
As he held that blood-stained bible up,
For all of us to see.
He said: "Bless the farmer, and the teacher, an' the preacher;
"Who gave this Bible to my mamma,
"Who read it to me."
There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway,
Why there's not four of them, now I guess we know.
It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you,
It's what you leave behind you when you go.
There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway.
It is a story of four
passengers on a bus trip to Mexico that proves fatal for three of them. The end
of the song reveals that the narrator is (the child of the fourth passenger).
The song's four passengers are a farmer, a teacher, a preacher and a hooker.
The three crosses are roadside memorials to the vehicle.
The repeated chorus of the song indicates that
what you leave behind in life matters more than what you take. In one verse of the song, the dying
preacher hands his bloodstained Bible to the hooker (prostitute), presumably to
offer an invitation of Christian salvation in the face of death. At the end
of the song, the narrator shares that he still has the Bible and that his
mother read it to him as he grew up, leading him to become a preacher. This
also reveals that the prostitute survived, answering the songs repeated
question about why there were only three crosses and not four.
Moral: To
be kind always.
“For the
Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through
all generations" Psalm 100:5
The highest form of praise, to God is because He is good.
There is
nothing you can do to make God love you more and there is nothing you can do to
make Him love you less. We see God’s love and mercy most clearly at the cross
of Calvary. When you gaze upon the dying form of the Son of God you will find
grace unmeasured, mercy undeserved, and love beyond degree.
It is all
based on His love, and no matter what I do (or don’t do), He still has a plan
for me. What an awesome God I serve.
We can face
the future with confidence because His faithfulness continues from one
generation to another. God’s love and faithfulness go far beyond any human
understanding. GOD is true. There is no deceit in Him. He is forever faithful.
What is it about a thankful heart?
1.When we are thankful we become more aware of His presence.
2. We look for His purpose in our circumstances.
3. Submission to His will-a total surrender.
4. A reminder of our dependence on Him.
5. Joy instead of fear and anxiety.
6. A focus on God in difficult times.
7. Our way of thinking towards others changes.
8. A never say die attitude.
"Be
joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is
God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
I Thessalonians 5:16-18
It is not always easy to give thanks.
Satan is defeated when we have a thankful heart because thankfulness during
difficulty is a sacrifice pleasing to God. There is power in a thankful heart.
"Have this mind
among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the
form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but
emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of
men" Philippians. 2:5-7
Lucifer (Satan) wished to be equal to God and in his
pride, he exclaimed: "I will be like the Most High."
Jesus,
Son of God, emptied Himself. John 1: "In the beginning was the Word, and
the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . Jesus came down from Heaven.
Jesus took in His divine person the nature of a servant that the same person
might be the only Son begotten from all eternity and the Infant in the crib
at Bethlehem and the Man of sorrows nailed to the cross.
Being
born in the likeness of man in a manger, the tidings of His birth were given
to the poor. Jesus says: "Learn of Me because I am meek, and humble of
heart."
The
sign of humility is obedience. Pride inclines us to do our own will and to
seek what exalts us. Death on the cross was considered by the Romans and Jews
as a horrible torture reserved to slaves. Jesus rendered suffering as fruitful.
He glorified it by obedience and love.
At
the birth of Jesus everything speaks to us of His humility. St. Luke
states: "She brought forth her first-born Son, and wrapped Him up in
swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger; because there was no room for
them in the inn."
The first adorers were poor shepherds keeping a vigil over their flock. And suddenly a multitude of angels descended from Heaven singing: "Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace to men of good will And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:8-11 When the angels appeared to the shepherds that night, they brought good news, but not only for the shepherds, but for ALL PEOPLE.
As
a child, this is one of the Gospels I remember very clearly. Every time I
heard this passage, every time my heart would rejoice and be filled with
hope. This is the only part of the Gospel that I understood before everything
else. HOPE is a good thing.
Paul
writes: "And to keep me
from being too elated by the abundance of revelations, a thorn was given me
in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to harass me, to keep me from being too
elated. Three times I besought the Lord about this, that it should leave me;
but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made
perfect in weakness.” I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that
the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am
content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities;
for when I am weak, then I am strong."
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
Pride
is the beginning of every sin. God sometimes permits some infirmity which
prevents us from becoming proud and makes us recognize that we cannot hold
out by our own strength. The man who knows his weakness is more attentive to
resisting it and because he struggles, he grows in strength. 'Gladly
therefore will I glory in my infirmities,' says St. Paul, since I am thus
more humble, and I must fight that the power of Christ may dwell in me and bear
all its fruits of grace."
Mary,
was preserved from original sin, and in everything that Mary did, Mary
magnified the LORD.
From
all eternity God willed the Incarnation of the Word, His Son, as Redeemer of
the world. "He humbled Himself, becoming obedient unto death, even to
the death of the cross. For which cause God also hath exalted Him and hath
given Him a name which is above all names: that in the name of Jesus every
knee should bow, of those that are in heaven, on earth, and under the earth:
and that every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the
glory of God the Father."
"He
that humbleth himself shall be exalted."
