The WONDERS of GOD.

In the scriptures God is called “The Great I Am,”
God is with us in the Present...right now.
Today is a New Day — to begin anew, to start again!
We must not lose sight of the fact that God wants to do something great in our lives not just today, but each and every day of our lives.

God made us in His Likeness and in His Image.
God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him forever in Heaven.
I am an expression of God's Love!

I Believe 'Home is where the heart is'.💘
A home may be built of bricks etc.🏡
To me a home is where two or more hearts connect. When a situation brings a family together, that place that they connect in-is Home.
Every day on our way to our aunt's place, we would pass this house under construction. I would look at it with such admiration. It's good for us that my father did eventually tell us that he was offered the home and he declined it. But me and my brother, jumped with excitement pleading with our father to take it. Seeing our excitement on packing our stuff, my father did ask for that home.

 Note 2: Today 13/11/25 (i have gone a little more in detail here)
 11th September 2025.    #Day 119 = PSALM 119 - i am Thine,
29th August 2024 – It is a year since my father left this world.
30th August 2024 - The day my Father was laid to rest.
29th August 2025 - And this afternoon one of my cousins, passed away.
30th August 2025 – The day of the funeral.
I know everything happens perfectly in God’s Time.

When I was a kid, I don’t remember ever laughing. My parents were of a serious nature. But when I came to Mangalore that year for holidays, I learned to laugh.
It so happened that all of us cousins were in our Grand-fathers room, and my cousin W just started laughing. And watching him we all burst into laughter. My brother, Adrian, kept asking us why we were laughing, but really there was no reason to give. Because we followed W and continued laughing.
I remember W each day, for that what I learnt from him-his gift. I learnt, you don’t need no reason to laugh. But when you do, you laugh from your heart. Laugh your loudest laugh.
(And I do laugh really loud, i wish maybe like Abba Father.)
Exactly a year later, and on holidays, my mom asked me to look after the things in the house. I said okay because i was not afraid to be alone because i knew my parents were just five minutes away.
I heard someone call out my name, “Anita", 3 times. at three separate intervals. The first time, I was in the garden, the second time in the house and the third time in the garden. I could see no one. I was terrified and I ran leaving everything. I was 9 years old.
When i got to our new home, i told my mom what had happened and she looked at me with a ridiculous expression-like as if i was creating a story for some reason. But it was the truth. She did not understand, because she did not believe me.
Years after that i always wondered what it was?
I would always see Jesus in my dreams. Jesus would always come.
And when i realized what i heard was the CALLING - i knew i was loved.
See i had to learn to laugh before i could understand the sound of laughter. I could hear Abba Fathers roaring laughter, I will not forget the laughter and my little foolish self.
Today, the 11th of September: in the Grace of God, this is
2929 3030

We have to live - life a whole 100% giving our all to GOD a 100%!
Which means doing the right thing at the right time.
Luke 9:23 - And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Luke 8:5 - “A sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed,
Luke 8:8 - And some fell into good soil and grew, and yielded a hundredfold.” As he said this, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

AF is ABBA Father, ABBA Father!
The reason i remember is because my dad loved uncle Frank. On uncle Franks death my dad became very quiet. Being relatives and neighbours, they were very good friends.
And the other reason for remembering the day, uncle Frank was laid to rest, is because it was my parents wedding anniversary. My father found it difficult to eat that night. He never let us on his pain of losing. But now as i think of it. There was a lot that i should have understood.
And uncle A, his only wish when dying was to be at home. And truly he was, in the company of his wife and son.

PSALM 139 & Wisdom 3:1-9

I was 8 or 9 when I first heard Fr. Joe. I loved His incredible voice. I knew Him as The Priest Who was incredibly passionate about the Eucharistic Adoration. I did not fully understand Eucharistic Adoration then, but i had never seen such Passion the way i was beginning to understand.
There are some hymns that when sung today, still have that power in them to take me back to the moment when i first heard the roaring echo in the Church, and long after the years have rolled by.
We as a people don't sing like that anymore.
My mom, knew Fr. Joe well. She had gotten herself some books on the lives of the Saints from Fr. Joe.
There were times, I would wish to have stood near Fr. Joe. My uncle would bring us to Church, and we would sit way behind. One day at Fr. Joes mass and during communion, I tried walking to Fr. Joe, but He was already walking towards the steps. He did not see me come.
(I learnt this very important lesson early on in life, to wait for my turn.)

The Second instanceI studied at Mt. Mary’s and on my way to school, near to the Church office, I saw Fr. Joe speaking with one of The Priest'. It would be splendid to have wished Fr. Joe ‘Good Morning’, but He was really engrossed and i quietly passed Him by.

Third instance - It was one of the days when I was in school, and Fr. Joe had come home. It was a Thursday, my brother Adrian, was home. I learnt from him that Fr. Joe had come.
Fr. Joe had some work, i think. But do you understand, it was something I missed. So near and yet I was a million miles away.
It was difficult for me. So, I closed that part in my head.
Some years back when I was in Mangalore, my mom was going through my dad’s stuff. I saw one of my letters addressed to my parents. I opened the letter and there was a handwritten last name Fr. Pereira. I struggled for a matter of time, Who Fr. Pereira could be, and I read the letter through. Then like a flash of lightning, I remembered Fr. Joe had come home and back then I addressed Him as Fr. Pereira.
And in 2008, when I did come to Mt. Carmel, it was one of the days when Fr. Joe celebrated the mass. From all of my experiences, I learnt that I must do things only when God permits me.

I really love Fr. Joe. And do you know, the wonders of God, Fr. Joe knows my first name. Isn’t that a Wonder of Wonders?
I never did anything. God worked it all out.
What I love about Fr. Joe is His Voice and His extreme Love of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist that is what I carry with me, the memory of the Love of Jesus.

You may wonder, why all of a sudden do I mention this?
On the 25th of October a close relative got married in Vasai Church.
There were 6 Priests in all. Two Priests are (family members) Fr. Raymond Fernandes and Fr. Roshan Fernandes.
My cousin looks at the snap and says Fr. Joe is here. I tell him no it can’t be. In all practicality i thought he was joking. Then he hands me his cell and true to what he says, One of the Priests at the celebration of the mass is Fr. Joe Pereira.
Imagine my surprise?

God Works the SUDDENLIES!

Thank You, Abba Father.
Thank You, Jesus.
Thank You, Holy Spirit.

Abba Father, changed my life that day in the month of May. I was 9.
I will forever sing the Wonderfulness of God.
It takes one word to change a person’s life.
Abba Father, called me by my name.
Abba Father, changed my life forever.
Nothing will ever be the same.

PSALM 118

PSALM 118 - A Song of Victory
GOD is GOOD!
Psalm 118 is a celebration of God’s Enduring Love.

PSALM 118:1-4
1. O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
   his steadfast love endures for ever!
   PSALM 118:1 & 29 begins and ends with the above.
2. Let Israel say,
   “His steadfast love endures for ever.”
3. Let the house of Aaron say,
   “His steadfast love endures for ever.”
4. Let those who fear the LORD say,
   “His steadfast love endures for ever.”
The Psalmist encourages (1) the people of Israel, (2) the house of Aaron, and (3) all who fear the Lord.
  • This is a call for the entire nation-call for the people of Israel to acknowledge God.
  • These were specially set apart for God’s service. House of Aaron– Aaron was the first High Priest of Israel. The Priests Who served Israel in religious matters were all descendants of Aaron.
  • A call to all who feared the Lord. Let us all say it now: “His mercy endures forever.”

PSALM 118:5-9
5.  Out of my distress I called on the LORD;
    the LORD answered me and set me free.
6.  With the LORD on my side I do not fear.
    What can man do to me?
7.  The LORD is on my side to help me;
    I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.
8.  It is better to take refuge in the LORD
    than to put confidence in man.
9.  It is better to take refuge in the LORD
    than to put confidence in princes.
Through trials, we know we have a God of mercy-Who always hears the cries of His distressed children.
GOD is unchangeable! God is faithful to His people. God is JUST!
God makes no mistakes. Trust in the Lord at all times.

PSALM 118:10-14
10. All nations surrounded me;
    in the name of the LORD I cut them off!
11. They surrounded me, surrounded me on every side;
    in the name of the LORD I cut them off!
12. They surrounded me like bees,
    they blazed like a fire of thorns;
    in the name of the LORD I cut them off!
13. I was pushed hard, so that I was falling,
    but the LORD helped me.
14. The LORD is my strength and my song;
    he has become my salvation.
We overcome in the name of Jesus.
We overcome through the Blood of the Lamb.
Through all –“the Lord helped me”.
God is our Source of strength. It delights the heart to sing His songs of Praise.

PSALM 118:15-18
15. Hark, glad songs of victory
    in the tents of the righteous:
    “The right hand of the LORD does valiantly,
16. the right hand of the LORD is exalted,
    the right hand of the LORD does valiantly!”
17. I shall not die, but I shall live,
    and recount the deeds of the LORD.
18. The LORD has chastened me sorely,
    but he has not given me over to death.
God’s Power is Supreme.
To live and in this life to "declare the works of the LORD".
Having experienced great suffering, David says, the suffering was a form of discipline from God, intended to instruct and it was not to be taken as a punishment leading to death.

PSALM 118:19-25
19. Open to me the gates of righteousness,
    that I may enter through them
    and give thanks to the LORD.
20. This is the gate of the LORD;
    the righteous shall enter through it.
21. I thank thee that thou hast answered me
    and hast become my salvation.
22. The stone which the builders rejected
    has become the head of the corner.
23. This is the LORD’s doing;
    it is marvelous in our eyes.
24. This is the day which the LORD has made;
    let us rejoice and be glad in it.
25. Save us, we beseech thee, O LORD!
    O LORD, we beseech thee, give us success!
The request to the "gates of righteousness" refers to the entrance into God's presence to give thanks. It is the way for those deemed righteous in God's eyes to approach and worship Him.
"I thank thee that thou hast answered me and hast become my salvation": David expresses gratitude for a time of distress when he prayed and God answered him.
“Salvation" is in the name "Jesus" and Salvation comes from God alone, not from human effort.
  • A cornerstone is the most important stone that determines the foundation and angle of a building.
This verse states that Jesus-(The Son of God, the cornerstone), would be rejected by religious leaders (the builders).
The entire process of rejection and triumph is God's plan.
This verse is connected to Jesus's triumphant entry into Jerusalem, His death, and resurrection. Rejoicing in this "day" means celebrating Salvation and the new life in Christ that every day holds.
God gave David a significant role in making him the King, God’s marvellous work in his life.

PSALM 118:26-29
26. Blessed be he who enters in the name of the LORD!
    We bless you from the house of the LORD.
27. The LORD is God,
    and he has given us light.
    Bind the festal procession with branches,
    up to the horns of the altar!
28. Thou art my God, and I will give thanks to thee;
    thou art my God, I will extol thee.
29. O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
    for his steadfast love endures for ever!
In verses 25-26, This phrase shouted by the Jews when they celebrated Jesus’ entrance (Jesus’ Triumphal Entry) into Jerusalem for Passover week just before His death.
Matthew 21:9 - And the crowds that went before him and that followed him shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
They recognized Jesus as the deliverer spoken of in the psalms.
"Extol" means to praise or exalt.
The reasons for the psalmist' gratitude are God's goodness and the everlasting nature of His loving-kindness, and mercy.

3.   who also do no wrong,
     but walk in his ways!
4.   Thou hast commanded thy precepts
     to be kept diligently.
5.   O that my ways may be steadfast
     in keeping thy statutes!
6.   Then I shall not be put to shame,
     having my eyes fixed on all thy commandments.
7.   I will praise thee with an upright heart,
     when I learn thy righteous ordinances.
8.   I will observe thy statutes;
     O forsake me not utterly!

9.   How can a young man keep his way pure?
     By guarding it according to thy word.
10.  With my whole heart I seek thee;
     let me not wander from thy commandments!
11.  I have laid up thy word in my heart,
     that I might not sin against thee.

     all the ordinances of thy mouth.
14.  In the way of thy testimonies I delight
     as much as in all riches.
15.  I will meditate on thy precepts,
     and fix my eyes on thy ways.
16.  I will delight in thy statutes;
     I will not forget thy word.

17.  Deal bountifully with thy servant,
     that I may live and observe thy word.
18.  Open my eyes, that I may behold
     wondrous things out of thy law.
19.  I am a sojourner on earth;
     hide not thy commandments from me!
20.  My soul is consumed with longing
     for thy ordinances at all times.
21.  Thou dost rebuke the insolent, accursed ones,
     who wander from thy commandments;
22.  take away from me their scorn and contempt,
     for I have kept thy testimonies.
23.  Even though princes sit plotting against me,
     thy servant will meditate on thy statutes.
24.  Thy testimonies are my delight,
     they are my counselors.

     revive me according to thy word!
26.  When I told of my ways, thou didst answer me;
     teach me thy statutes!
27.  Make me understand the way of thy precepts,
     and I will meditate on thy wondrous works.
28.  My soul melts away for sorrow;
     strengthen me according to thy word!
29.  Put false ways far from me;
     and graciously teach me thy law!
30.  I have chosen the way of faithfulness,
     I set thy ordinances before me.
31.  I cleave to thy testimonies, O Lord;
     let me not be put to shame!
32.  I will run in the way of thy commandments
     when thou enlargest my understanding!

33.  Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes;
     and I will keep it to the end.
34.  Give me understanding, that I may keep thy law
     and observe it with my whole heart.
35.  Lead me in the path of thy commandments,
     for I delight in it.
36.  Incline my heart to thy testimonies,
     and not to gain!
37.  Turn my eyes from looking at vanities;
     and give me life in thy ways.
38.  Confirm to thy servant thy promise,
     which is for those who fear thee.
39.  Turn away the reproach which I dread;
     for thy ordinances are good.
40.  Behold, I long for thy precepts;
     in thy righteousness give me life!

41.  Let thy steadfast love come to me, O Lord,
     thy salvation according to thy promise;
42.  then shall I have an answer for those who taunt me,
     for I trust in thy word.
43.  And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth,
     for my hope is in thy ordinances.
44.  I will keep thy law continually,
     for ever and ever;
45.  and I shall walk at liberty,
     for I have sought thy precepts.
46.  I will also speak of thy testimonies before kings,
     and shall not be put to shame;
47.  for I find my delight in thy commandments,
     which I love.
48.  I revere thy commandments, which I love,
     and I will meditate on thy statutes.

49.  Remember thy word to thy servant,
     in which thou hast made me hope.
50.  This is my comfort in my affliction
     that thy promise gives me life.
51.  Godless men utterly deride me,
     but I do not turn away from thy law.
52.  When I think of thy ordinances from of old,
     I take comfort, O Lord.
53.  Hot indignation seizes me because of the wicked,
     who forsake thy law.
54.  Thy statutes have been my songs
     in the house of my pilgrimage.
55.  I remember thy name in the night, O Lord,
     and keep thy law.
56.  This blessing has fallen to me,
     that I have kept thy precepts.

57.  The Lord is my portion;
     I promise to keep thy words.
58.  I entreat thy favor with all my heart;
     be gracious to me according to thy promise.
59.  When I think of thy ways,
     I turn my feet to thy testimonies;
60.  I hasten and do not delay
     to keep thy commandments.
61.  Though the cords of the wicked ensnare me,
     I do not forget thy law.
62.  At midnight I rise to praise thee,
     because of thy righteous ordinances.
63.  I am a companion of all who fear thee,
     of those who keep thy precepts.
64.  The earth, O Lord, is full of thy steadfast love;
     teach me thy statutes!

65.  Thou hast dealt well with thy servant,
     O Lord, according to thy word.
66.  Teach me good judgment and knowledge,
     for I believe in thy commandments.
67.  Before I was afflicted I went astray;
     but now I keep thy word.
68.  Thou art good and doest good;
     teach me thy statutes.
69.  The godless besmear me with lies,
     but with my whole heart I keep thy precepts;
70.  their heart is gross like fat,
     but I delight in thy law.
71.  It is good for me that I was afflicted,
     that I might learn thy statutes.
72.  The law of thy mouth is better to me
     than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

73.  Thy hands have made and fashioned me;
     give me understanding that
     I may learn thy commandments.
74.  Those who fear thee shall see me and rejoice,
     because I have hoped in thy word.
75.  I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right,
     and that in faithfulness thou hast afflicted me.
76.  Let thy steadfast love be ready to comfort me
     according to thy promise to thy servant.
77.  Let thy mercy come to me, that I may live;
     for thy law is my delight.
78.  Let the godless be put to shame,
     because they have subverted me with guile;
     as for me, I will meditate on thy precepts.
79.  Let those who fear thee turn to me,
     that they may know thy testimonies.
80.  May my heart be blameless in thy statutes,
     that I may not be put to shame!

81.  My soul languishes for thy salvation;
     I hope in thy word.
82.  My eyes fail with watching for thy promise;
     I ask, “When wilt thou comfort me?”
83.  For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke,
     yet I have not forgotten thy statutes.
84.  How long must thy servant endure?
     When wilt thou judge those who persecute me?
85.  Godless men have dug pitfalls for me,
     men who do not conform to thy law.
86.  All thy commandments are sure;
     they persecute me with falsehood; help me!
87.  They have almost made an end of me on earth;
     but I have not forsaken thy precepts.
88.  In thy steadfast love spare my life,
     that I may keep the testimonies of thy mouth.

89.  For ever, O Lord, thy word
     is firmly fixed in the heavens.
90.  Thy faithfulness endures to all generations;
     thou hast established the earth, and it stands fast.
91.  By thy appointment they stand this day;
     for all things are thy servants.
92.  If thy law had not been my delight,
     I should have perished in my affliction.
93.  I will never forget thy precepts;
     for by them thou hast given me life.
94.  I am thine, save me;
     for I have sought thy precepts.
95.  The wicked lie in wait to destroy me;
     but I consider thy testimonies.
96.  I have seen a limit to all perfection,
     but thy commandment is exceedingly broad.

ALL GLORY TO GOD!

PSALM 119 as explained by Pope Benedict XVI.
Pope Benedict XVI spoke about Psalm 119 as the breadth and depth of man’s relationship with God.
It is a range of sentiments which fill the hearts of those who pray: praise, give thanksgiving, trust, supplication and lament, all with a heartfelt openness to the Lord’s word,” the Pope said.

The central theme of this Psalm was the Psalmist’s proclamation of “his love for God’s Law, which brings light, life and salvation”.
“The Psalmist’s faithfulness arises from listening to the Word, from keeping it in his heart, meditating upon it,” says the Pope, drawing a parallel with the Virign Mary, who ‘treasured in her heart’ the Word addressed to her, the marvellous events in which God revealed Himself and asked for her response of faith.”
When Christians pray this psalm, they see Mary as the model of the same “loving docility (meaning-willingness) to God’s will, and in Jesus the fulfilment of the Law,” said the Pope.

This is a dynamic relationship (meaning-constantly changes and evolves over time) the Pope explained, where the Word of God is “listened to with obedience but not servility (meaning-excessive willingness to serve or please others), but with filial trust and awareness,” bringing about a “personal encounter with the Lord of life.”
As an example of such an encounter, the Pope focused on verse 57, which proclaims, “The Lord is my portion; I promise to keep thy words.”
He explained how the term “portion” refers to “the partition of the Promised Land among the tribes of Israel, when the Levites were given no part of the territory because their ‘portion’ was the Lord Himself.” Among the 12 tribes of Israel, only the tribe of Levi, could not own land because it was tasked with specific religious duties.
These verses, said the Pope, have particular resonance today for Catholic Priests “who are called to live from the Lord and from His Word alone, with no other guarantees, no other wealth, and having Him as their one source of true life.”
“It is in this light,” He said, “that we can understand the free choice of celibacy for the Kingdom of Heaven, which must be rediscovered in all its beauty and power.”

At the same time, the psalm speaks to all the Christian faithful, who are “called to experience the radical nature (meaning-far reach) of the Gospel, to be witnesses of the life brought by Christ, the new and definitive ‘High Priest,’” Pope Benedict said.
